I was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Except for a two-year stint in the army and a year in Manhattan, I’ve always lived in the Southern US. I studied fiction writing under a Welshman who, among other things, wrote for the amazing British spy-fi TV series, The Avengers. I’ve worked as a geologist and a Latin teacher. I’m writing now in my hometown of Mycenae, Tennessee.

I’ve spent a lot of time traveling in the British Isles, which has been helpful in writing my stories. I love the British countryside and the ancient sites–stone circles and hillforts.
